As the Irish automotive aftermarket continues to negotiate its way through the most difficult period in its history, Autobiz has spoken to Gillian Fanning, who is SIMI Vice President, Chairperson of the SIMI Wholesalers Committee and Marketing Director of major Irish parts distributor Serfac.

You can watch the interview with Gillian Fanning here.

In a video interview with Autobiz’s Verona Ellis, Gillian gives her views on the positive and responsible way aftermarket businesses have coped with the  Covid-19 crisis and how garages, bodyshops, motor factors and other business can best return to work, when restrictions are eased.

She also talks about how aftermarket businesses are getting prepared to operate in a very different working environment and what measures the SIMI is taking to support the industry. The interview also touches on how the parts supply chain is robustly dealing with the crisis and the role Government can play in stimulating the automotive sector.

Lastly, Gillian gives some reasons why the automotive aftermarket can afford to be a little more optimistic about recovery than some other sectors.
