Introducing the all electric Quattro

German car maker Audi has created a new concept car that will act as a race taxi at Formula E weekends. Called the e-tron Vision Gran Turismo, the all-electric demo car carries the iconic Quattro badge and looks every bit like a true Audi racer.

The car features three electric motors with 268 HP each, two for the rear and one for the front. This gives a total output total output of over 800 HP, meaning it can go from 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, complete with its specially developed Quattro four-wheel drive system.

The car has been produced in the same livery as the famous Audi 90 Quattro IMSA GTO which was a dominant force on the track in the early 90’s.  The design is the first time that Audi has collaborated with game makers Gran Turismo for its Vision GT concept programme, but rather than just be content with a virtual model, Audi has produced a real life example.

Don’t expect to see this concept in the showrooms anytime soon, but it does perhaps point to the possibility of an all electric DTM racing series in the future.
