After more than a century in car rental, Hertz has filed for bankruptcy

protection in the US and Canada, however, its European operations have not been included in the US Chapter 11 filing and will continue to operate.

Hertz was in financial difficulty before the coronavirus pandemic hit and with the dramatic drop in revenue this has brought and uncertainty about future used car values it was forced to issue the bankruptcy notice.

It is believed that Hertz has debts of roughly $19 billion and globally some 700,000 vehicles which are mainly idle because of coronavirus.
