Airbag Recall in Ireland too

As a precaution around 38,000 cars are being recalled here in Ireland because of potential problems with passenger airbags.  Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mazda are all recalling a small number of vehicles manufactured between 2000 and 2003 which are fitted with airbags that were all made by Japanese company Takata.

Toyota Ireland will recall around 22,000 vehicles. The models affected are the Yaris, Corolla and Avensis.

Nissan are recalling 13,500 vehicles. Those affected include the Almera, Navara, Pathfinder, Patrol, Tarrano, Tino and the X Trail.

Honda Ireland is to recall around 1,500 cars, mainly from 2001/02, from their Civic, Jazz and CRV models.

Mazda Ireland is to recall just 390, all Mazda 6 cars.

This is a voluntary recall by all four car companies concerning a possible malfunction of the inflators, which could cause the airbag to deploy abnormally during a crash.
