Spies Hecker shows off the Volksrodder

It is a Beetle but not as we know it. Spies Hecker has played a key role in a unique global project to transform a so called Pretzel Beetle into a special hot rod called the Volksrodder. The cars stunning look is the work of Austrian airbrush artist Knud Tiroch and his son Dominic, who have been pimping up muscle cars and hot rods for many years in their workshop in Vienna.

Tiroch says when he got the job he knew that Spies Hecker was the right paint to use. He commented, "I needed the best technical solutions available on the market which is why I chose the Permahyd Hi-TEC 480 waterborne basecoat system."

Daniel Hartland, Spies Hecker brand marketing coordinator for Ireland and the UK says technically the project was a big challenge. He commented, "Despite the very old steel substrate coupled with the new, more modern parts, Spies Hecker  has delivered an absolutely immaculate paint finish by using complimentary products to Hi-TEC: a solid foundation with Permasolid HS Premium Surfacer 5310 and a superb gloss courtesy of Permasolid HS Clear Coat 8055."

You can see more of the Volksrodder on You Tube.
