Philips introduces new retro-fit Daytime Running Lights

With Daytime Running Lights now standard on most new cars the aftermarket demand for these products is rising rapidly both in terms of replacements and retro fits. Phillips have responded to this with the launch of Philips DaylightGuide. European Union research has shown that half of daytime accidents are caused by one road user failing to see another in time. As such DRL’s were made compulsory on all new cars in 2011.

Style is a key consideration for the retro fit DRL purchaser, so the new Phillips DaylightGuide range is ultra stylish with exceptional performance allowing a motorists to see and be seen. Phillips believe Lightguides are the future of the LED DRL market. Instead of a row of individual LED lights, the Lightguide offers a seamless strip of intense light with a visual effect of uniform light diffusion rather than the dots of light. Thus, as well as being in tune with current automotive styling trends, DaylightGuides offer a wide angle of visibility with commensurate safety gains.

The DaylightGuide is dimmable and is compatible with electric, Hybrid and Start-Stop system equipped cars. They are manufactured to OE quality standards and are fully ECE R87-compliant.  Philips has also designed the DaylightGuides to be as easy to fit as the rest of its existing DRL range using the same smart, clip-on system.
