Refinish specialist Spies Hecker has released a brand new product formulated for use on carbon fibre components. Permafleet Industry Carbon Fibre Sealer 5605 gives industrial objects, accessories and parts made of CFRP a smooth surface that highlights the typical carbon fibre look.

Most bodyshops are familiar with the challenge of painting carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) components such as side sills or rear spoilers while maintaining the visual appearance of the carbon fibre’s characteristic weave pattern. Spies Hecker’s solution is this new transparent polyurethane sealer that preserves the carbon fibre’s woven pattern despite its good filling properties. For optimal UV protection, a subsequent clear coat layer is recommended, and all Spies Hecker clear coats are compatible with the new sealer.

Spies Hecker says, Permafleet Industry Carbon Fibre Sealer 5605 delivers bodyshops economic benefits, too. The sealer can be applied in two spray coats with short intermediate flash-off times. Permafleet Industry Carbon Fibre Sealer 5605 hardens after only 30 to 45 minutes drying time at 50°C to 60°C.
