Lighting and electronics specialist Philips has entered the dash-cam market with two models which offer a host of safety features in this fast growing sector. The company has introduced the ADR 610 and ADR 810 which are carefully designed to meet the needs of motorists.

A number of functions are common to both cameras with each having automatic recording which commences as soon as the vehicle is started. They also have collision detection and emergency file protection so that, if an accident happens, an emergency date and time-stamped video sequence is automatically saved, to secure the evidence and prevent overwriting. Footage is captured in full 1080 high definition and, with the units’ advanced sensors, both are also able to offer clear low light images and good night visibility.

The units offer a seamless recording pattern of 30 frames per second and playback is available in real time via an LCD screen. Both models also have a fatigue index, which shows the evolution of driver’s fatigue, alerting the driver both visually and through sound when the driver needs to take a rest.

The ultra-compact design of the entry level ADR610 prevents the driver’s vision being obscured, as it fits behind the rear view mirror and when driving at night the LCD screen automatically turns off, for added safety.

The ADR810 also features a 156 degree super-wide angle camera with wide format 2.7” inch LCD screen and Emergency EasyCapture through two easy-access emergency recording buttons - one clearly identified on the device, and one on the cigarette lighter adaptor.
