In a thrilling last gasp finish, Donagh Kelly snatched a late, late victory in the Monaghan Four Seasons Hotel Stages Rally.

Following nine ultra competitive stages in the drumlins of Co Monaghan, a gigantic effort by Kelly on the final stage of the day saw him take the lead from local hero Sam Moffett to win by just two seconds.

Donegal man Kelly was fourteen seconds behind Moffett on the opening stage, but gradually reduced the deficit to come out on top in a duel of champions.

Another local driver, Niall Maguire finishes third one minute and 51 seconds behind the leader.

This is Kelly’s fourth win in a row and comfortably lead the Nationall Rally Championship and the Sligo Pallets border championship at this earlt stage of the season. Jason Black in a Toyota Starlet won the junior category.
