AkzoNobel introduces new digital colour matching system

AkzoNobel has launched a new digital system which allows bodyshops to precisely measure and match vehicle colours. The advanced system consists of two key elements, Automatchic Vision, the latest generation of AkzoNobel's hand-held spectrophotometer and Automatchic Smart Search, new colour retrieval software.


Henri Bijsterbosch, Global Manager Digital Colour with AkzoNobel commented, “Quite simply, we are revolutionizing colour matching in the bodyshop.  The compact, hand-held Automatchic Vision device uses the latest digital technology to guarantee precise, reliable measurements of colour, including curved parts of a vehicle that are traditionally difficult to read."

AkzoNobel say the system is also intuitive and easy to operate, so that only minimal training is needed to achieve accurate measurements quickly. Colour readings obtained using Automatchic Vision are easily translated into precise colour formulas by the Smart Search software.

Henri  adds, "Automatchic is designed to support standard bodyshop processes. The software ensures the optimum colour match while minimizing paint use, reducing waste and saving valuable time.”

The system has been extensively tested with customers and feedback has been extremely positive.
