The legendary race engineering outfit, TWR, has been reborn, with a new take on the classic Jaguar XJS its first project.

The TWR Supercat, promises motorsport-inspired performance and an analogue driving experience according to its makers. It will be made in a limited run of only 88 examples, with the first versions due for delivery in the winter.

The original TWR company was established by the late Tom Walkinshaw and scored some major successes in touring car and endurance racing during the 1980s and 1990s.

The new supercat features carbon fibre panels and all new aerodynamics. It is expected to have a supercharged V12 engine and six speed gearbox.

Fergus Walkinshaw, director and founder of TWR, said, “As order books open, we cannot wait for clients to experience the most powerful, dynamic and visceral evocation of a British icon. It has been revolutionised from the ground-up to be ready for those that demand to be connected to the cars they drive, whether on the track or the road.”

The car will cost around €300,000.
