When replacing a timing belt the correct belt tension is critical. If the timing belt is loose, it will whip, if too tight it will whine, in both cases extra stress is applied to the bearings of the cogs which drastically reduces the life of the timing belt. Draper produces a range of timing kits that contain all the tools required to replace the timing belt and the related parts effectively and ensure the correct tension.

A new timing kit for Volkswagen Audi Group vehicles (Part No: ETK53) is now available. This contains a complete set of essential tools for replacing the timing belt/chain or correcting the belt/chain tension on VAG vehicles. This professional kit is manufactured from pressed steel and supplied in a hardwearing plastic storage case.

The kit is suitable for the following engine codes:

Audi - CPTA, CMBA, CJZA

Seat - CJZA, CJZB, CHPA, CMBA

Skoda - CJZA, CJZB, CGGA, CHPA

VW - CPTA, CJZA, CJZB, CGGA, CHPA, CMBA, CPVA, CRJA

Also new to range is a timing Kit for Alpha Romeo engines (Part No: ETK52). This also contains all the tools required for an effective timing belt replacement on Alpha engine codes 939B1.000 and 940A1.000.

Draper recommends that technicians always refer to the vehicle manufacturer for the correct use of kits.
