Winter weather means wiper replacement
Share:

Dublin based parts, accessories and lubricants distributor Carcessories has seen it wiper sales spiralling since it took on distribution for the TRICO wiper blade range late last year.

The highly respected brand continues to gain favour with parts suppliers, garages and motorists right across Ireland, with the same combination of excellent product performance and comprehensive application coverage, which has made TRICO the number one in the American market.

Particularly in harsh winter weather wipers can easily become damaged and stop performing to full effect. As experts in wiper technology TRICO has provided some sound advice on the need for wiper replacement.

TRICO says wipers need to be replaced immediately if any of the following are noticed:
• Streaking. Caused by dry rubber that has hardened and cracked. Streaking can also be caused by contamination of the blade rubber.
• Chattering. A chattering sound is caused by the "permanent set” or "curve” in the rubber that some wiper blades develop while they are not being used.
• Worn Rubber. This means general rounding of the wiping edge caused by age.
• Split Rubber. Sometimes caused by the sun's ultraviolet rays.
• Bent Refill or Wiper Frame. Damage often the result of ice scrapping or car washes.

When conditions are icy it is recommended that drivers carefully scrape their windscreen and avoid the use of wipers until this is complete to avoid unnecessary blade damage.
