Schaeffler Training Team visits Des Golden Specialist Cars

The Schaeffler Technical Training team have been visiting motor factors and garages in Ireland this week in one of the brand new REPXPERT Technical & Customer Support Vehicles. These unique adapted VW vans are fully loaded with an array of tools, product, equipment and training materials to create a ‘mobile academy’ for technicians and stockist’s staff. This allows trainers to provide hands-on, on-site, practical training on the OE products in the LuK clutch, INA tensioner and FAG wheel bearing product ranges.
One of the first garages to benefit from this training approach was Des Golden Specialist Cars in Cork. Des and his son James received one-on-one training on double clutch (DSG) replacement from Schaeffler Technical Services Manager, Malcolm Short and Technical Trainer, Alistair Mason. They also completed an IMI assessment as part of the programme.
Speaking after the visit Des Golden said, "The training from the Schaeffler team was excellent. Both Malcolm and Alistair have great product and application knowledge and the van is so well equipped it makes a brilliant setting for the training.” He added, "DSG is very much a growing area of business potential and this training will allow us to be specialists in this field in our area.”
Malcolm Short commented, "Des has a fantastic garage facility and has invested in first class tools and equipment. It is very refreshing to see a professional outfit like this committed to quality and training.”
The team and the REPXPERT Technical & Customer Support vehicle will be visiting other garages and motor factors to provide training on the latest Schaeffler product innovations throughout the week.
