Schaeffler’s Wrenches & Wisdom campaign puts the spotlight on workshop apprenticeships, along with aftermarket career possibilities and training opportunities. The campaign launched in 2024 and will continue throughout 2025.

The REPXPERT team is aiming to visit a host of workshops during the campaign, talking to garage owners and professional technicians to further educate the independent aftermarket about the currently untapped resource of apprenticeships, along with the benefits of upskilling staff with the latest product and systems training available from companies like Schaeffler.

As part of the campaign, Schaeffler’s Technical Services Manager, Alistair Mason, recently visited Durham College, which provided students with invaluable clutch system training, including common fitment issues and how to overcome them, advice on where to source information, and also an overview on other Schaeffler products and systems.

Alistair said: “Hosting training sessions for people at the start of their automotive career journey, or about to embark on one, is really important. We need to support them wherever we can, because starting out in a new profession is daunting, and an understanding of the market and the products they will encounter is of vital importance to them.

“The clutch system is complex and has many elements that can go wrong if not installed correctly, so students are always eager to learn during these days and digest as much information as possible so they can do the job right and progress in their training.

“The Wrenches & Wisdom campaign has succeeded in so many ways, whether it’s by introducing young people to a genuine OE brand they didn’t know before, encouraging workshop owners to consider hiring apprentices and investing in their future, or simply just providing new training opportunities to those already in, or unsure about their career in the automotive industry – all of the work we’re doing on this campaign is designed to help young people and the aftermarket in general.”

Schaeffler encourages aftermarket professionals to stay updated with its latest news by regularly checking the REPXPERT app, or by visiting the website at: www.repxpert.co.uk.
