Recent years have seen an explosion in the number of different oil brands available in the Irish aftermarket. Many seem to come into the market and then all but disappear, but one relatively new brand that has had a massive impact has been Mannol.

In fact the products of the German lubricant specialist were first introduced to Ireland over five years ago and in this time they have gone on to be a firm favourite on the shelves of hundreds of motor factors.

Greg Longergan of Mannol distributor Carcessories says, "Mannol oils were very well received initially because of their excellent packaging and competitive pricing, but in the oil sector you can only really judge how a brand is fairing after a few years. Greg highlights two oils which have been exceptional sales performers recently. Mannol  O.E.M. 5W-30 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil meets the much sought after VW 507 spec, as well as many others, and is suitable for use in many VW, Audi, Skoda and Seat models. It is a low SAPS oil that offers excellent performance and long term wear protection and is suitable for extended service interval use.

Another hugely popular product is Mannol 10w 40 Semi Synthetic oil. This is something of a multi-purpose all rounder, suitable for a very wide range of applications and is available attractively priced and available in a complete range of pack sizes.

Greg also makes the point that the popularity of Mannol oils can also create many other opportunities for motor factors. He comments, "Because customers have got to know and like the Mannol brand we find they are now favourably disposed to trying other Mannol products. For example Mannol gear oils and ATFs are fast rising in popularity and 2 Stroke and 4 stroke oils in the range for bikes and leisure applications are always in demand as we come into the summer months.
