Leading OE and aftermarket automotive component supplier Schaeffler will be taking centre-stage at this year’s inaugural Automechanika event in Birmingham. The global technology giant will be showcasing its products and giving technical demonstrations on the largest stand (No. N21 in Hall 9) at the NEC Birmingham on June 7-9.

Schaeffler staff will be giving practical hands-on technical demonstrations on its original equipment  LuK clutch, INA tensioner and FAG wheel bearing brands, as well as its newly introduced Ruville engine, cooling and suspension components range. The company will also be giving VIP tours for distributors and hosting independent garage visitors as well as demonstrating its motorsport heritage, with one of its renowned race cars on display, plus a running video of its on-track exploits.

Malcolm Short, Technical Services Manager for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket said, "We will be having a major presence at Automechanika on what is the biggest stand at the show at more than 300 square metres.” He added, "We are determined to ensure that visitors to the show have the best possible experience. Our stand is situated near the main entrance to Hall 9 and gives us the opportunity to give technical demonstrations across all our brands over the three days.”

Malcom explained that the stand is also designed to enable staff to entertain garage and distributor customers, provide food to guests and also have discussions with them in meeting rooms. There will also be an innovation and technology zone.

Amongst the hands-on technical demonstrations on offer will be advice on fitting the growing range of LuK 2CT double clutches with the Ford Powershift Gearbox, Dual Mass Flywheels (DMFs), FAG Gen II bearings and INA Front End Auxiliary Drive (FEAD) systems, including Overrunning Alternator Pulleys (OAPs).

The company will also be encouraging workshops to sign-up to its new and improved REPXPERT online portal for workshop professionals, which offers everything to make life for an independent garage mechanic that little bit easier. The updated site (where technicians can register for free at www.repxpert.co.uk) is now split into three easy to navigate sections that together provide quick and simple access to a full Schaeffler information library for the modern workshop professional.

Schaeffler will also be supporting the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA) at stand J39 in Hall 10 which promotes the benefits of fitting OE parts.

OESAA, whose slogan is ‘Our Quality. Your Reputation’, represents the leading manufacturers and suppliers of OE automotive parts to vehicle producers, and are planning some interactive presentations with hard talking Andy Savva from Brunswick Garage talking about how to profit from using OE parts but also how to question suppliers who claim to be OE suppliers.

OESAA members will be on hand to discuss the benefits of fitting OE quality components and to ensure that workshops and distributors can make an informed choice when purchasing spare parts.
