Newly appointed Automotive Director at NGK Spark Plugs Marko Wowczyna has been speaking about his plans for the future development of the company and continuing the proud traditions of quality and service set by his predecessors.

Marko said, “NGK not only has fantastic products, but it also has a very strong team, who have a high morale and a huge pride in the brand. Jim Hughes instilled a spirit of teamwork and team spirit within NGK which is demonstrated by the motto he introduced, ‘Teamwork and Togetherness = Success’, which is still displayed at our Hemel Hempstead headquarters. Brian Childs continued this philosophy and it is one I am determined to maintain.”

Marko also spoke about the quality of the people at NGK, saying, “I believe that the strength and quality of our sales team is unparalled in the market-place. They are very knowledgeable and are focused on supplying the best possible support to our distributors and their garage customers, whom they regularly visit.”

Marko joined NGK as General Manager for the aftermarket in October 2012, and has almost 17 years experience working in the automotive aftermarket. In his new role he will oversee the company’s successful OEM and OES operations, in addition to its aftermarket activities. He said, “I am looking forward to the new challenge of working with the vehicle manufacturers and learning more about that side of the business. Our OE contracts have been vital to the success of the company as they demonstrate the excellence of our products to our distributor and garage customers who know they can trust and rely on the quality of the parts we supply.”

In the past 18 months alone NGK signed new OE contracts with such well-known names as Audi, BMW, Fiat, Ford, Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot, Porsche, Renault, Vauxhall and Volkswagen. It also supplies many of the world’s leading four and two-wheel motorsport teams including F1 teams McLaren Mercedes, Ferrari and Mercedes.

Marko sees effective communication of information as one of NGK’s key activities and this is reflected in a recent complete revamp of its website. “We are determined to never stand still. We are always looking to improve and refine our service, such as developing our Social Media activities including Twitter and Facebook. It’s all about supporting our customers and developing our partnerships to build even stronger relationships,” said Marko.

Marko also says the company is looking at new product sectors following on from the highly successful introduction of its ignition coils range last year.
