One of the big hits of the recent MechanEx exhibition at Sandown Park was a series of training sessions put on by ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs. This attracted hundreds of technicians to the company stand over the two days.

Ten training sessions in all were delivered by Tim Howes, NGK Deputy General Manager – Supply Chain and Technical Service. They were split between a focus on ignition products, spark plugs, glow plugs and ignition coils and vehicle electronics, NTK Lambda, NOx, EGT, MAP and MAF sensors. Everyone who attended one of the sessions also received a free LED work lamp.

Mark Hallam, Marketing Manager, NGK Spark Plugs said, “We are delighted with the response we have had to the technical training sessions which were designed to give the technicians invaluable technical tips on our products which will help them daily in their workplace. For some of the seminars it was standing-room only with more than 60 technicians attending to learn more about our products and the outside factors that can affect their performance. The feedback we had was very positive and a lot of technicians stayed behind to speak with Tim after the seminars had ended.”

In addition to the training seminars NGK staff were also on-hand to provide more details about the company’s products and latest initiatives. The company recently announced it is to enhance its NTK sensors offering with the launch of 20 new wide band Lambda sensors. The new wide band sensors – commonly referred to as ‘5-wire’ Lambda sensors, will supplement the company’s existing range of 64 NTK OE 5-wire sensors.

The launch significantly increases its range coverage, particularly for VAG models, and means that NGK now has 5-wire sensors available for almost every vehicle manufacturer who utilises this technology.
