Introducing Ami

Citroen Ireland has launched its new Ami, an all-electric model that will have a recommended retail price of just €9,990, for the base version.

The new vehicle cannot exactly be described as a car, as it is actually a 2 seater quadricycle with a 5.5kWh battery, which Citroen says can offer a 75km range. However, it does require a full driving license.

The ultra compact design is only available in left hand drive to keep costs down. It is offered in three trim levels, Ami, Color and Peps, with each adding to the equipment and the price.

The Ami is very unconventional and is clearly aimed at the quirkier buyer. However, it does offer some practical benefits in terms of easy parking and fast charging, making it an economical option for city living.

Novel design features include 2CV style manual tilted windows and the availability of a ‘My Cargo Kit’, which can quickly make the Ami a delivery vehicle. It is perhaps here where Citroen may get the most sales traction, as businesses look to differentiate themselves and highlight their green credentials.
