Parts specialist, First Line, has highlighted it essential range of six crankcase breather hose references to fit BMW applications. The range covers the 3, 5 and 7 Series, Z3, Z4 and X3, X5 models.

Crankcase ventilation is central to modern engine design to both avoid the build-up of excess pressure and vent the by-products of engine combustion through the inlet manifold via a positive crankcase ventilation valve. This regulates the evacuation of the gases and ensures the engine is running to its optimum efficiency, thus reducing its emissions.

However, the hoses from the crankcase to the PCV valve can get clogged with oil deposits and also turn brittle and split due to the constant heat cycles they have to endure, a process that is often accelerated by cold weather. Poor idling, lack of power and responsiveness, oil fumes and oil leaks can be signs of a failed breather hose.

Global Marketing Director, at First Line, Jon Roughley, said, “Our range of Crankcase Breather Hoses are just a small selection of the specialist, high opportunity products we have available and continually promote. We know there is a demand from the independent repairers for these, however, they need to know where they can get them from, otherwise they will just go straight to the dealer for this type of product. “

Jon added, “We support our distributors and encourage them to create awareness, which in turn will generate sales. From the garage perspective we also stress that new products are continuously being made available each and every month and huge savings can be made v going to the main dealers.”

Jon points out that First Line crankcase breather hoses are manufactured from original equipment specified materials to ensure premium quality at all times and are supplied as a complete assembly unit, including locating clip and hose clamp quick release. They also benefit from the company’s two-year/24,000-mile warranty.
