The First Line Group (FLG) has added electric water pumps to its First Line cooling range, to sit alongside its premium quality mechanical water pumps, thermostats, sensors and switches to form a 750 part number-strong programme.
Electric water pumps are increasingly used by vehicle manufacturers in an effort to further reduce emissions. The FLG range now reflects this trend. There are two types of electric pump: primary, which replaces the traditional mechanical pump and secondary, which is fitted alongside a mechanical pump and often has several functions. These functions can include cooling the vehicle after the engine has been shut down, increasing the flow of coolant to certain parts of the engine under extreme conditions and/or boosting the coolant flow to the heater matrix to warm up the heating system as quickly as possible.
Manufacturers of modern electric hybrid vehicles tend to mix and match their water pump requirements. For example, the Lexus CT200H, later Toyota Prius and Auris and Yaris hybrids utilise electric pumps, whereas other Lexus hybrids, the earlier (pre-2009) Prius, Opel Ampera and Honda and PSA hybrids favour a mechanical solution.
All First Line water pumps are sourced from premium manufacturers to ensure high quality, as reflected in the 2-year/24,000 mile warranty.
