ECOBAT Logistics is to offer a new waste battery collection service that will provide a practical solution to battery disposal issues for aftermarket businesses in Ireland and across Europe.

The creation of ECOBAT Logistics brings together the knowledge and logistical expertise of two established companies within the ECOBAT group, German based BLS and UK based G&P Batteries. These two organisations have been working collaboratively for some time to create a new, pan-European service that enables the collection of any battery from anywhere in Europe.

This new service will be delivered under the One Call Collection brand, which will direct customers to the most appropriate point of contact for the compliant collection and safe storage and handling of their waste batteries, be they the smallest button cells, automotive batteries or giant industrial batteries.

Many of the batteries to be handled by ECOBAT Logistics are end of life automotive batteries, the majority of which historically have been lead acid batteries. Via its lead smelting operations, the ECOBAT group is the only global company offering a closed recycling loop for lead acid batteries.

In the UK, G&P Batteries has been offering a One Call Collection service for waste batteries for nearly 40 years and is widely recognised as the market leader in the collection and recycling of every kind of waste battery, irrespective of its size or chemistry. Managing Director Greg Clementson comments, “It is this business model we are seeking to replicate across Europe with the creation of our new pan-European brand. BLS is widely known in Germany as the go-to collection company for automotive waste batteries so we are truly excited to be unveiling our new identity, Ecobat Logistics, here at Automechanika Frankfurt.”
