AkzoNobel in the UK has held its fifth annual Golf Day in memory of RAB Lee, this year making it an even greater success by jointly hosting the event with one of its customers, the Rainbow Group. Already the 2014 charity fund stands at over £19,000, with all proceeds destined for the cancer charities, Thames hospice and CLIC Sargent.

The RAB Lee Golf Day has become one of the industry’s most anticipated charity events. The latest golf day was held at Stoke Park in Buckinghamshire. Customers and guest from the automotive industry were invited to share the beautiful setting, facilities and great atmosphere with their partners. Remembering RAB Lee, a former AkzoNobel employee who lost his own battle with cancer in June 2010, everyone wholeheartedly enjoyed the wide variety of activities designed to meet all tastes from rounds of golf to spa treatments, whilst raising critical funds.

Bobby McConville, UK Services Manager at AkzoNobel, spoke at the gala dinner in the evening saying, “The RAB Lee Memorial Golf Day is an important date in the calendar for all of us who knew RAB. The sun always shines when we step out onto the golf course, lifting our spirits and reminding us of the positive difference we can make in helping the fight against cancer. Also it gives us the opportunity to celebrate the contribution RAB made to AkzoNobel and the development of the successful Acoat programme.

The Bennetts Group were the proud winners of the trophy for 2014.
