The Nissan Qashqai has been voted Car of the Year for 2015 by the Association of Professional Motoring Press (APMP).

The announcement was made at the association's inaugural awards ceremony held in Co. Wicklow on Monday 6th October attended by leading figures from the motor industry.

Speaking at the awards, APMP Chairperson Michael Sheridan said "APMP awards are adjudicated on by the most respected motoring writers in Ireland from national newspapers, Radio and TV to the best internet commentators. With over 45 publications among the voter's outlets, the awards are highly credible and desired by all car and van manufacturers."

Members of the APMP awarded their votes based on a number of key criteria including design, safety features, fuel economy, comfort and technology.

Commenting on the award, Chief Executive Officer Nissan Ireland, James McCarthy said "We are delighted to receive the award for APMP Car of the Year 2015.  The Qashqai has been phenomenally successful since its arrival in 2007.  It pioneered the crossover segment of cars at the time and has consistently been one of Ireland's top-selling cars ever since.  The new 2015 Qashqai has been greatly received and sets new benchmarks for the segment again. We truly believe that the new Qashqai is the best, bettered and this award along with the host of titles the new Nissan Qashqai has received since it was launched earlier this year is testament to that"

The APMP Car of the Year award further solidifies the new Nissan Qashqai's reputation having earlier this year been awarded WhatCar? Magazine Car of the Year, Fleet Car, Car of the Year as well as being named as the Sunday Times, Best Car Buy for 2015.
