OTTO hosts Pierburg technical training evenings

OTTO recently hosted Achim Villmow, service engineer from Pierburg, at a series of technical training evenings in Dublin, Cork and Galway. The presentations covered the range of Pierburg products available at OTTO, as well as diagnostic techniques and known problems.

Pierburg are an OE provider of EGR valves, fuel, oil and water pumps, mass flow sensors, solenoid valves and more. As cars are now much more complex, technical training and knowledge is essential to stay on top of all the changes. Some of the topics covered at the training evenings, included specific problems that are common to some VW and Mercedes engines, and quick and easy ways to diagnose problems that commonly occur.

Future developments were also presented, including air pumps and EGR designs, that have both high and low pressure EGR incorporated into a single design. An air pump directs air into the exhaust gasses at an early stage, reducing harmful emissions. While air pumps have been around for decades in American cars, the stricter demands of Euro 5 and Euro 6 will see them in your garage soon.

Technical information is available on the Pierburg website. They also have technical newsletters available by email. For more information logon to the website
