Global technology giant Schaeffler was one of the star attractions at the third annual Autoinform LIVE weekend of hands-on technical training organised by ADS and supported by the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association (OESAA).

Malcolm Short, Technical Services Manager for Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket said the event proved popular with the 450 delegates who attended. He commented, “We had around 200 delegates participate on our courses and we received many favourable comments. A lot of people said that this year’s event was the best yet and it was good to have so many people keen to learn about our products and how they can help them in their businesses.

Schaeffler, the OE supplier of LuK clutches, INA tensioners and FAG wheel bearings to the independent automotive aftermarket provided courses on a number of topics which included;
  • The INA GearBOX – the complete transmission repair solution covering everything needed to carry out a professional transmission repair in just one box
  • E-Mobility, Thermal Management & the E-Arc Stabiliser – a detailed look at the vehicles that will be driving into workshops in the future and Schaeffler’s involvement in the future of mobility. This included the latest advances in water pump technology – the Thermal Management Module, as well as details of the Electronic-Arc stabilisation systems being increasingly fitted to modern cars
  • Twin Clutch Technology including diagnostics. This covered how twin clutch systems operate and the benefits they offer to the vehicle manufacturer, driver/owner and independent workshops as a profit-making opportunity. It included information about diagnostics and trouble codes, plus a practical removal and installation demonstration of the latest FIAT Group LuK 2CT repair solution.
  • There were also details of REPXPERT (www.repxpert.co.uk), Schaeffler’s online tool for professional garage mechanics needing free access to VM fitting information with details of everything they need to know about LuK clutches, INA belt systems and FAG wheel bearings.
The event attracted a lot of positive comments from delegates who praised the organisers and the content of the show, with some taking to Social Media to register their approval. John Donnellan, of Donnellan Auto Services in Galway was one of many Irish visitors. He posted: “Great weekend, excellent training. Thanks to everyone involved with this event. Will definitely be back next year.”
