Ignition specialist NGK Spark Plugs is planning to ‘go green’ at the forthcoming MechanEx Show at Sandown Park. The company will be focusing on its NTK sensors range on Stand B1 at the event which takes place on November 6th and 7th.

NGK is the world’s largest manufacturer of Lambda sensors and through NTK offers this same sensor expertise and quality to the aftermarket. In September, the company added to the NTK range with the launch of new ranges of Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensors and Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensors which further strengthened its engine management sensors’ portfolio.

For maximum efficiency in engine operation and to ensure effective exhaust gas treatment, the engine control unit (ECU) needs to precisely regulate the air-fuel ratio and MAF and MAP sensors are essential elements in this process. The NTK range comprises 87 MAF sensors and 69 MAP sensors and both provide the ECU with a signal needed to calculate the amount of air aspirated by the engine.

NGK Spark Plugs Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said, “As an OE supplier of NTK sensors to many of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers we work very closely with them to provide the best possible components to help reduce vehicle emissions and protect the environment.” He added, “Green is our NTK brand colour and consequently our stand will have a green theme which will highlight our environmentally-friendly credentials. Garage visitors can be secure in the knowledge that our NTK Lambda sensors always match the vehicle manufacturers’ specifications. All are factory tested as part of VMs’ specifications. They have original equipment connectors as standard, so no crimping or soldering is required.”

Mar believes that the two new ranges offer NGK stockists and excellent business opportunity with products, back-up and know-how to meet garage customer’s requirements.

The range also features NTK exhaust gas temperature sensors (EGTS) which were launched to support the ever-increasing complexity of exhaust gas management technology. These thermistor devices monitor the exhaust gas temperatures to enable the efficient operation and protection of vital components, including turbo chargers, located directly in the flow of those hot gases. EGTS from NTK are OE in approximately 35 percent of global passenger car sensor applications and are a popular choice as they provide extreme resilience against heat and vibrations, have high measuring accuracy, fast light-off times and an exceptionally wide measuring range.
