The bright summer of 2018 saw pollen levels reach an eye-watering 12-year high and this is a trend that looks set to continue in 2019. Against this back-drop filtration experts, Comline are keen to highlight the importance of effective cabin ventilation in the fight against allergies and harmful atmospheric pollutants.

Comline says a fully functioning cabin filter will clean the air coming into the vehicle, protecting the driver and their passengers by trapping harmful gasses and air-borne particles such as dust, bacteria and pollen. Perhaps not so widely understood by motorists, however, are the other consequences of failing to replace the cabin filter which include poor ventilation, misting windows and unpleasant odours. Added to this poor in-car air leads to fatigue and reduced concentration, with serious safety implications. Despite these risks, the cabin filter continues to be viewed as a non-essential item, mainly due to the fact that its failure is silent and does not have any mechanical implications.

Comline is working with its motor factor and garage partners to change this perception, positioning the cabin filter as an essential piece of equipment which protects the vehicle's most important components, the driver and their passengers.

"The cabin filter is a relatively low-cost item which offers motor factors and garages fantastic growth opportunities," said Nick Weir, Head of Comline's Business Line Operations. "Providing a steady revenue stream with plenty of scope for up-selling, to more premium carbon activated products, the cabin filter has the potential to deliver 'healthy' profit margins. The key, however, lies with consistent education.”

Under the banner' first for filters' the Comline brand markets an impressive range of air, oil and cabin filters which includes 1,800 references, servicing 95% of the European, Korean and Japanese car parc.  Comline is also part of an elite group of filtration providers approved by International Filter Testing Services).  This partnership gives Comline filters an additional seal of approval and importantly, allows the brand to test and benchmark the quality of its media extensively.

Comline's cabin filter range consists of both regular and carbon activated applications, all of which are manufactured from premium-quality, specialised woven multilayer media.  The option of activated carbon not only delivers an added layer of protection, guarding motorists against ultra-fine gas particles such as Benzine or Ozone, it also presents Comline's motor factor and garage partners with a further up-selling opportunity.
