5 Series scores high for safety
Euro NCAP have issued the results for the safety performance of three cars, BMW 5 Series. Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the Mazda CX-7. Of these three cars, the BMW 5 series achieved the highest result in pedestrian protection with a respectable 78%. The car has an active bonnet, so that when a pedestrian is struck, the bonnet is lifted from its position as a result, creating more space to absorb the energy that usually results in injury. ...more>

Ferrari themed fun
Ferrari took time out at the Spanish Grand Prix last month, to launch a new model with a difference, a Ferrari roller coaster, which they say will be the fastest in the world. Stefano Domenicali, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa unveiled the cars for the Formula Rossa roller coaster at the Catalunya Circuit.

Consumer car buying trends 2010
AA Ireland recently surveyed over 7,000 motorists on their car purchase plans in 2010 and beyond. Overall, 16% hope to change their car this year. Results found the majority (54%) intend to purchase a second hand car. 6% plan to buy a new car and a minimal amount (0.3%) plan to buy an electric vehicle in 2010.

Trucks on auto-pilot
Convoys of robotic trucks criss-crossing Europe’s motorway network in 90kmh road-trains. This may sound like the stuff of science fiction, but it is not too far off according to Swedish Truck maker Volvo.
