Audi Growth Continues

Andrew Doyle, MD, Audi Ireland

AUDI AG achieved an all-time sales record for May with 128,900 cars delivered and a 13.7% gain compared with the same month last year. The company sold 600,200 cars worldwide in the first five months (+12.1 %) and has now set itself a target of 1.4 million cars by the end of the year.

In Ireland, Audi maintained its position as premium market leader taking 4.7% of the total car market in May and 4.4% year to date. Total unit sales year to date rose by 17.2% compared to the previous year.

Andrew Doyle, managing director of Audi Ireland commented: "The sales figures for the month of May are extremely encouraging as Audi is surpassing the ambitious sales targets set at a national level, and a global scale where sales records are being smashed all the time."

The Audi A6 in particular has performed very well for us to date. This is followed closely by the Audi A4, which has remained the number one choice with Irish motorists in this segment. With exciting additional product launches planned for 2012 we are well on target to achieve our targets for the year. We will continue to invest in our product, people and facilities to ensure we maintain our leading position."

Thanks to the highly successful new Audi A6, sales figures once again rose in all regions worldwide in May - most notably in China, up 44.2%. In North America, sales figures climbed by 10.3%; in Europe, the new Audi Q3 and A1 Sportback contributed to growth of 3.8 percent.
