Performance brake brand, Textar, is to put its pads to the test as it attempts to brake a world record of driving 8,000 kilometres in just four days. Experienced long-distance driver Rainer Zietlow will drive from Dakar to Moscow in a VW Amarok, equipped with copper-free Textar brake pads.

Commencing from the Senegalese capital, the gruelling trip will see the team pass through four time zones and meet a number of obstacles on their journey.

TMD Friction developed a friction material specifically for the marathon trip, complete with a customised stamp, to ensure premium performance and endurance. Stephan Giesecke, Head of Regional Marketing at TMD Friction, said, "This was not an everyday task for our developers. However, our team has mastered this challenge with flying colours, especially considering the tight timeframe.” He added, "We are delighted to be supporting Rainer Zietlow and his team in this exciting project. We are pleased to be involved in an endurance test such as this, as long service life is another key strength of our material alongside safety and comfort."

The world record attempt can be followed at www.amarok-dakar-moscow.com, where the team regularly posts status updates.
