NGK sponsored riders played a major role at the recent FIM Speedway World Championship British Grand Prix, with some enjoying success, while others experienced disappointment.

Four-times World champion Greg Hancock withdrew from the meeting after heat one with a shoulder problem. However, other NGK sponsored riders had a more productive meeting. Matej Zagar scored 12 points in the rounds and came third in the final, while Emil Sayfutdinov scored 11 points and reached the semi-finals.

The Grand Prix was held in front of tens of thousands of fans at the Principality Stadium, Cardiff and was televised live on BT Sport. The winner was Polish rider Maciej Janowski with World Championship leader Jason Doyle in second place.

NGK Spark Plugs Marketing Manager Mark Hallam said, “It was sad that Greg had to withdraw from the meeting, but he will hopefully come back better than ever. However, Matej and Emil both had positive performances which bodes well for the rest of the season.”

Next up is the Swedish SGP in Malilla on August 12.
